frequently asked questions
-
MudHyde is designed to provide durable concealment throughout a hunting season when applied properly and allowed to dry completely. The lifespan will vary depending on weather exposure, moisture, sunlight, vegetation type, and how frequently the blind or concealment material is handled.
In most applications, MudHyde will remain effective for an entire season and often longer when stored indoors between uses. Heavy rain, prolonged UV exposure, repeated folding, or frequent abrasion may gradually reduce adhesion and require touch-ups.
For best results:
Allow MudHyde to dry completely before use.
Store blinds and concealment materials in a dry location when not in use.
Inspect natural vegetation periodically and replace as needed.
Reapply MudHyde to high-wear areas if necessary.
Because every hunting environment is different, actual performance may vary, but most users can expect season-long concealment with proper application and care.
-
One MudHyde Kit covers approximately 4,000 square inches, which is enough to cover about four pit blind lids or two layout blinds, depending on the application and surface.
For the best results, apply the MudHyde mixture based on the type of surface:
Fabrics and flexible materials: Apply a thin layer, approximately 1/16 inch thick. A thinner application helps maintain flexibility while reducing the chance of cracking or peeling.
Rigid surfaces (wood, metal, fiberglass, etc.): Apply a slightly thicker layer, approximately 1/16 to 1/8 inch thick. This provides excellent coverage, durability, and long-lasting performance.
Actual coverage may vary depending on the texture of the surface, application thickness, and the amount of natural material being incorporated into the MudHyde mixture.
-
MudHyde begins to form a surface skin in approximately 1 hour under normal temperature and humidity conditions. It reaches a full cure in approximately 24 hours.
Drying and cure times may vary depending on temperature, humidity, application thickness, and ventilation. For best results, allow MudHyde to cure completely before exposing it to moisture or heavy use.
Always apply MudHyde outdoors.
-
MudHyde is a versatile water-based adhesive that bonds well to a wide variety of materials commonly used in hunting blinds and concealment systems.
MudHyde adheres well to:
Raw wood surfaces
Painted and sealed wood
Cotton and canvas fabrics
Synthetic camouflage fabrics
Most Plastics
Most clean, dry metal surfaces
For best adhesion, surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dirt, oil, and loose debris before application.
Because material formulations vary, we recommend testing a small area before large-scale application, especially on specialty plastics, waterproof coatings, or treated fabrics.
MudHyde is intended for securing real dirt and concealment materials to hunting blinds, layout blinds, pit blinds, and other camouflage applications where a flexible, durable bond is desired.
-
Each MudHyde Kit includes everything needed to create a durable, natural-looking concealment finish using real dirt from the surrounding area you are hunting to create field matched concealment.
A typical MudHyde Kit includes:
1ga MudHyde Concealment Adhesive bucket
Mixing Paddle to attach to non-included electric drill
Measuring cup
Nitril Gloves
Mixing and application instructions
All contents are packaged and shipped in a 3.5ga bucket. This bucket is used as the mixing bucket.
-
No. MudHyde is a proprietary water-based formula with very little odor. Unlike many solvent-based adhesives, MudHyde provides a more pleasant application experience and won't leave you sitting in your blind with a strong adhesive smell after it has cured.
-
Yes. MudHyde bonds well to previously cured MudHyde, making touch-ups quick and easy.
Depending on use and exposure to weather, you may want to touch up high-wear areas or reapply MudHyde at the beginning of each hunting season to maintain optimal concealment and appearance.
-
To maximize shelf life, store unused MudHyde in its original container with the lid tightly sealed. Keep it in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Do not allow MudHyde to freeze, as freezing may affect its performance. For best results, we recommend using MudHyde within one year of purchase. If stored properly, unused MudHyde can be used for future projects and seasonal touch-ups during that time.
If MudHyde has been mixed with dirt or other natural materials, use the mixture promptly, as it is not intended for long-term storage.
-
Yes. Once MudHyde has been mixed with dirt and allowed to dry completely, it is designed to withstand normal outdoor exposure, including rain, dew, snow and wet field conditions. MudHyde will transform to match wet field conditions when moisture is applied.
After curing, the MudHyde mixture forms a durable bond that helps keep dirt and concealment materials attached to the surface. While occasional moisture will not typically affect performance, prolonged exposure to standing water, repeated saturation, or heavy abrasion may gradually reduce the effectiveness of the coating over time.
For best results:
Allow the MudHyde mixture to dry completely before exposing it to moisture.
Apply in dry conditions whenever possible.
Store equipment indoors or under cover when not in use to maximize longevity.
Touch up high-wear areas as needed after extended use.
MudHyde is designed for real-world hunting conditions and can handle the rain, snow, mud, freezing, and moisture commonly encountered in the field.
-
MudHyde can dry faster than the surrounding soil, which may cause it to appear lighter in color. If the treated area stands out, lightly mist or dampen the MudHyde surface with water to help it blend more naturally with the surrounding field conditions.

Independent Hunter Access – Each hunter has their own lid, allowing them to enter, exit, and shoot without relying on other hunters.
Hands-Free Operation – Our patented magnetic closure system allows hunters to break through the lid without using their hands, keeping both hands free for a faster, accurate shot.
See Your Shot Before You Move – An integrated see-through mesh viewing panel lets you watch approaching birds and pick your shot before breaking through the blind, reducing unnecessary movement.
Smooth, Unobstructed Shot Opportunity – Hunters break through a flexible fabric panel instead of pushing through stiff, pokey brush, allowing for a cleaner, more comfortable shot.
Maintains Concealment – Because hunters break through the fabric rather than the vegetation, the natural brush stays in place, minimizing the need to re-brush the blind throughout the hunt.
Superior Concealment – The apex-profile design blends naturally into the surrounding environment, while any small gaps can be easily brushed in with natural vegetation.
Weather Protection – Closed-cell foam insulation helps block wind, rain, snow, and cold air, creating a more comfortable hunting environment.
Heat Retention – The insulated design helps retain warmth inside the blind, making cold-weather hunts more comfortable.
Quiet Operation – ApexLid is designed to open and close quietly, helping reduce movement and noise that could alert approaching birds.
Lightweight Yet Durable – Constructed with a 6063-T5 aluminum frame, heavy-duty 600D polyester fabric, and a durable matte black powder-coated finish, ApexLid is built to withstand years of hunting.
Fast, Tool-Free Installation – Four adjustable hook-and-loop attachment straps allow each lid to be installed in less than one minute with no tools or additional hardware required.
Fits Most Standard A-Frame Blinds – Designed to fit the majority of A-frame hunting blinds.
Increase Shot Opportunities ApexLid hides unnecessary movement inside the blind, helping keep approaching birds committed and giving your crew more quality shooting opportunities.
Built for the Long Haul – Premium materials and corrosion-resistant construction provide dependable performance season after season.

The ApexLid system is designed to fit the majority of standard A-frame hunting blinds on the market. Each ApexLid provides an independent lid for each hunter, allowing each person to open and close their section without disturbing the other hunters.
Each ApexLid measures approximately 30 inches wide, making it ideal for most 3-man and 4-man A-frame blinds. Most 3-man blinds are approximately 8 feet (96 inches) wide, while most 4-man blinds range from 10 to 10.5 feet (120–126 inches) wide.
The 30-inch lid width provides excellent coverage for these common blind sizes. Any remaining gaps between lids or at the ends of the blind can be easily brushed in with natural vegetation to achieve complete concealment.
-
ApexLid is designed for quick and easy installation. Each lid is equipped with four hook-and-loop attachment straps (two on each side) that slide along the frame for a universal fit.
Installation takes less than one minute per ApexLid, and no tools or additional hardware are required. Simply position the lid where desired, secure the attachment straps, and you're ready to hunt.
-
ApexLid is built with premium materials to withstand the demands of the hunting season and years of outdoor use.
Fabric: Heavy-duty 600D polyester for excellent durability and weather resistance.
Frame: Lightweight, corrosion-resistant 6063-T5 aluminum for exceptional strength without unnecessary weight.
Finish: A durable matte black powder-coated finish that resists corrosion and minimizes glare in the field.
Insulation: Closed-cell foam insulation helps retain heat inside the blind while providing a barrier against wind, rain, and cold weather, keeping hunters more comfortable in harsh conditions.
Every ApexLid is engineered to be lightweight, durable, and dependable, delivering reliable performance season after season.
-
ApexLid is lightweight and easy to handle in the field. Each ApexLid weighs approximately 3.1 pounds, making it easy to install, remove, and transport without adding significant weight to your hunting setup.
-
The ApexLid was designed to accommodate hunters of all shapes and sizes. Instead of a flat lid on an A-frame, we designed it, so it creates an apex peak to provide more headspace and also eliminate any box effect for ideal concealment. The ApexLid will stand approximately 12” above the top of the A-frame blind.
